  • Description

We have just finished this reconditioning of a Nishijin Grand Trapeze from about mid 1980’s. The machine has a circus theme with the clown swinging back and forth in the center feature in the fever mode. Lots of lights and sound on this one!!

The play on this machine is quite fast paced once you hit the fever mode. First, you have upper pockets and outer tulips that provide a single payout. Then you have the #1 lower pockets, those provide a payout and cycle the hanemono arms one time to open the center feature. Next you have the #2 center pocket. If you get a ball in the #2 pocket, it will pay out 13 balls and cycle the hanemono 2 times, greatly increasing the chances of entering the center and starting the fever mode.

Now once the balls enter the center,  the clown swings back and forth moving the balls around and the pink trays will flip.  The center feature will trap and hold balls for about 5 seconds, when released if a ball hits the V pocket it will start the fever mode, the counter starts, and payout for all of the balls in the center. If the balls don’t make the V pocket, it will go into a last chance mode where it doesn’t trap the balls but does give you a chance to reenter the fever mode. Watch the video, it has a lot of action!!!

This machine was in pretty good shape but needed a lot of cleaning. The machine was disassembled and all of the back plastics washed, and other parts cleaned and serviced, the center feature was partially disassembled and cleaned and polished as well. The playfield all of the components were removed, the playfield cleaned and the pin heads all polished, shafts were left unpolished as they were in good shape. The front plastics have some fading, but those have been polished back up to a shine, and the chrome is in great shape but does have a few pitting areas but nothing that is unusual for a machine for this age. The top light bar does have a chip out of it on the lower left corner but it is not noticeable.

We also have reworked the lock and made it functional and are providing a new key. To operate it, rotate left and the frame opens, rotate right and the machine door opens. So this can be placed into a wallmount cabinet with no issues. The frame of the machine has been stained a hickory color and cleared with urethane, and it will come with black hardwood feet, a new window, manuals, and a ball bin support. We are including a ball bin but balls are not included. You will need at least 1000 balls to support the fever mode. These machines were designed for auto-fill parlors so they will go through a lot of balls.  We can recommend a source that sells at a fair price for the balls.
